
A severe head-on collision early Friday morning has led to the closure of a section of Route 30 in Unity Township, Westmoreland County. According to reports by WPXI, the accident occurred shortly after 6 a.m. near the intersection of Wimmerton Boulevard, in the vicinity of Saint Vincent College.
The incident resulted in at least two individuals being trapped within their vehicles. The conditions of those involved were not immediately clear as emergency teams responded to the scene. As word of the accident spread, both the westbound and one eastbound lane of Route 30 were promptly closed to traffic, creating significant disruptions for morning commuters. WTAE adds that the westbound closure was comprehensive, encompassing the area surrounding the crash site.
While the full extent of the injuries remains unknown, Westmoreland County 911 dispatchers confirmed that there was entrapment in both of the vehicles involved. As of now, it's uncertain whether the victims have been transported to the hospital for treatment. Investigations into the cause of the accident are ongoing, and authorities have not released any additional information regarding potential factors that might have led to this unfortunate event.
