In a ceremony last week, Deputy Trummel of the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office was formally recognized for his decisive actions that likely saved the life of a California Highway Patrol officer struck by an impaired driver. The event, dating back to October 16, 2022, saw Trummel spring into action after hearing the emergency call, as reported by the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office.
According to a Facebook post by the Sacramento County Sheriff's Office, Deputy Trummel received the California Highway Patrol’s Life-Saving Award for his heroic efforts. The post detailed how Trummel provided lifesaving pressure to the CHP officer’s severe leg wound while his colleagues applied a tourniquet, a response that was critical in preventing further blood loss and ensuring the officer's survival.
Deputy Trummel’s quick thinking and calm response during a roadside accident showed the strong training and dedication of law enforcement. His actions helped save an injured officer’s leg—and likely his life. The officer is now recovering. The Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office praised Trummel for his courage and dedication in helping a fellow officer.
