The Sacramento County Sheriff's Office took to social media to announce the arrest of a Lincoln police officer for multiple counts of lewd acts with a child. Timothy Jaekel, a 52-year-old serving officer, was detained following a series of allegations coming to light, implicating him in a longstanding pattern of sexual abuse towards four family members, the Sheriff's Office detailed in a post on their Facebook page.

The initial complaint was filed on June 23 by an adult relative now residing in Arizona. The victim had already reported her experiences to the Lincoln Police Department before engaging with the Sheriff’s Office, who in turn promptly communicated with Lincoln authorities regarding the criminal complaint. According to the victims, Jaekel's abuse spanned years, beginning when they were as young as eight and continuing until they reached 16, in instances of being inappropriately touched both over and under their clothing.

Further investigation by the Sheriff’s Child Abuse Bureau Detectives corroborated the distressing claims. The victims disclosed to the authorities that Jaekel had also solicited nude photographs from one of them during her juvenile years. Each of the victims recounted not only their own experiences but also bore witness to the abuse of other female members within the family by Jaekel, as the Sacramento County Sheriff's Office reported.

Acting on the damning interviews, authorities obtained an arrest warrant, and yesterday, Jaekel was arrested in Lincoln without incident. The press release detailed that Jaekel is currently booked at the Sacramento Main Jail and has been rendered ineligible for bail pending further court proceedings.
