
A fatal shooting on San Antonio's West Side is under investigation following a dispute allegedly over a stolen television. According to Fox San Antonio, police were called to the 5900 block of West Cesar Chavez Boulevard near SW 36th Street at approximately 9 p.m. yesterday where they discovered a man with two gunshot wounds.
Earlier in the day, officers had responded to a report of a TV stolen from the porch of a residence in the same location, the theft incident ultimately leading to the evening's deadly encounter the suspect, who was believed to be involved in the TV theft, was found shot in front of the home. Emergency crews pronounced the man dead at the scene, as reported by the San Antonio Fire Department.
The KENS 5 News account of the incident adds that the victim, a man in his 30s, suffered gunshot wounds to his shoulder and forehead during the argument with the suspected shooter, a man in his 20s.
Police have yet to release a motive or the relationship between the victim and the suspect; however, the man suspected of firing the shots remained on scene, was detained by police, and is currently being questioned the investigation into the shooting remains ongoing, with authorities working to piece together the details that escalated an alleged petty theft to a tragic loss of life.
Details of the incident and the identification of those involved have not been made public, and no charges have been filed at this time.
