San Antonio is setting up for a grand showcase of compassion and community as the Dogtober Pet Adoption Festival gears up to open its gates this weekend, promising locals a chance to find new furry friends. The festival, as reported by the City's news release, is scheduled for October 25-26 at the Animal Care Services campus on 4710 State Highway 151. Attendees can look forward to meeting a wide array of animals in search of homes, with adoption specials priced at $25.

Hours are set from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. for Saturday's activities and will continue from noon to 5 p.m. on Sunday, allowing ample time for visitors to fully embrace what has been described as an expanded event. Not only set to feature a sizable pumpkin patch with no admission cost, suitable perfectly for those Instagram-worthy moments, the festival also plans to host live music from local TikTok famed artists Haley Anna and Geanky Music. The occasion is shaping up to be a must-visit with a multitude of attractions including a scavenger hunt, live prize giveaways, and a variety of workshops.

With an expansion into the neighboring San Antonio Food Bank facilities, the festival doubles down on its festive offerings. Festival-goers can participate in fall-themed activities, such as the "Passport For Paws" dog enrichment scavenger hunt, and enjoy grabbing a bite from the lineup of food trucks serving seasonal delights. An artisan market will also be present, featuring goods from local vendors in both zones of the festival. For families and pet lovers alike, attractions such as Puppies n’ Pilates and the whimsical “Furtunes” by Madame Purrfecto are bound to be a hit.

Adding to the convivial spirit, several partner shelters and rescues are joining the effort. They include San Antonio Pets Alive!, Animal Defense League, Footbridge Foundation, San Antonio Humane Society, and SNIPSA, all ready to help animals find their forever homes. For those driving, a complimentary parking and shuttle service will be available at Pre-K 4SA located at 1235 Old Highway 90. To seamlessly participate and potentially skip some lines, the public is encouraged to look to secure Early Access and Fast Paws passes through the Animal Care Services website for more details.
