San Diego residents are in for a warm-up with high temperatures above the seasonal norms and the onset of weak Santa Ana winds gusting up to 45-55 mph in certain areas. The winds are expected to affect regions including the Cajon Pass, the San Gorgonio Pass, and the Santa Ana Mountains, hinting at a breezy Tuesday ahead. A warming trend that continues through Wednesday will send temperatures up by 5 to 15 degrees above normal, as per the NWS San Diego.
The forecast signifies significantly warmer weather ahead for mid-week, particularly on Tuesday, which could increase temperatures by 10 to 15 degrees in inland Orange County and some valleys, according to the Area Forecast Discussion from the National Weather Service. Despite marine layer clouds covering western valleys in the morning, the offshore flow merging with strengthening high pressure aloft is responsible for the uptick in temperatures, with highs potentially reaching from the mid-70s to the lower 80s near the coast to the 90s for inland areas by Wednesday.
Of note, with this anticipated heat comes a heightened risk, prompting the issuance of a Heat Advisory for Tuesday and Wednesday, as reported by the NWS. This advisory extends to inland Orange County and the valleys, where the high temperatures could range from the 90s to the lower to mid-90s for the lower deserts on Wednesday.
Looking ahead, the 7 DAY FORECAST SAN DIEGO suggests a cooling trend will take place on Thursday and Friday with onshore flow ushering in lower temperatures, as inland regions could experience a drop in temperature by 5 to 10 degrees, and in some localities, the cooling could be by as much as 10 to 15 degrees. However, the weekend forecasts a few degrees' uptick in heat with high temperatures warming back up, ranging from 4 to 8 degrees above average by Friday to 8 to 12 degrees above average on Sunday.
