To bridge the gap between vital services and community members who need them most, the County of San Diego made moves to get closer to those in need. The scene of this latest outreach was South Bay, where the County recently hosted a Community Resource Fair designed to bring various support systems directly to the locals.

According to the County of San Diego, the Chula Vista Public Library opened its doors on September 24 for the event. It was a collaboration between the County of San Diego Probation Department, the County’s Health and Human Services Agency, and the Chula Vista Library, among other agencies. Stepping forward with more than just books, the library hosted over 50 local agencies and organizations dedicated to creating supportive structures for its attendees.

While the focus was on individuals involved in the justice system, including both adults and youths, the fair did not exclude anyone seeking assistance; it welcomed anyone seeking assistance, thus casting a wider net of aid across the community. Services provided were manifold: medical care, mental health support, substance use disorder treatment, and aid in employment readiness, each offering a potential lifeline.
