The weather roller coaster continues in San Diego County with the National Weather Service forecasting a series of temperature shifts and cloud movements over the coming days. According to a recent NWS San Diego update, residents can expect the temperatures to "slowly warm Thursday and Friday" before experiencing a slight cool down over the weekend.
Those planning to bask in the warmer climes should make the most of Friday, as it's poised to be the peak of the warmth with "Warmer temperatures expected Friday before cooling into the weekend." Friday specifically will see highs around 5 degrees above average for inland areas, featuring a range from the lower 70s near the coast to the mid to upper 80s for the Inland Empire, and even reaching the lower to mid 90s for the lower deserts. This rising mercury comes from high pressure moving across California, as detailed by the National Weather Service.
However, the warmth is expected to be a transient visitor, with "Afternoon high temperatures will cool into Sunday," as noted by the NWS San Diego. This cooling trend will be driven by a strengthening low-pressure system to the north, which will strengthen the onshore flow across southern California. This will result in cooler and breezy inland conditions for the weekend, with night and morning coastal low clouds spreading farther inland by Sunday.
San Diegans long for sustained warmth, but they will only wait until the new week dawns. The extended forecast promises a dry and warmer period from Monday through Wednesday, with high temperatures slated to ascend "as much as 5 to 10 degrees above average for the valleys," as per the NWS discussion. These conditions will likely be a boon for those contemplating beach or park outings early in the week.
