The search for Jon Naeole, missing since his outrigger canoe was found off Kailua Beach Park, has entered its third day with no new leads. As reported by the Honolulu Fire Department's official update, multiple agencies, including HFD, Honolulu Ocean Safety, and the Coast Guard, have expanded their relentless search operation for Naeole, who set out alone and failed to return.

On the first day, when Naeole was reported missing, an overturned canoe and a paddle identified as his by family members, were found by a foil surfer and retrieved. Widening from where the canoe was found, a hat belonging to Naeole was also located—the discovery aided by data from USCG buoys, tracking drift patterns. While conducting the search, a mysterious U.S. Coast Guard was urging anyone with information to come forward, which intensified collective anxiety, according to HFD.

In a statement obtained by Hoodline, Naeole's cousin, Mea Mitchell, expressed both gratitude for the efforts and a plea for additional witnesses. "We just want to thank anybody that is a part of this operation, and if there was anybody here this morning that maybe have saw him... that would be helpful as well," Mitchell said. The family remains hopeful, citing Naeole's swimming skills and local current knowledge.

By day three, after extensive searches from Kaneohe to Waimanalo, the HFD concluded the operation at sundown. Despite the comprehensive efforts including land, air, and ocean resources, the paddler remains unaccounted for, leaving the community and Naeole's relatives draped in uncertainty. Family members, holding onto hope, described Jon's strength and perseverance, "Jon J is a strong guy and he runs it hard," Mitchell added amidst discussions, as per Hoodline.
