Search for Missing Santa Rosa Hiker Sunshine Borjas Suspended, Public Urged to HelpSource: Santa Rosa Police Department

As the search for Sunshine Borjas, a 47-year-old woman from Santa Rosa, remains unresolved, authorities and family members hold onto hope while seeking the public's assistance. Borjas was reported missing after not returning from her solo hike at Bodega Head, which she embarked on last Wednesday afternoon. Her absence was felt immediately; her car was discovered the following morning by officials in the Bodega Head parking lot, as reported by Hoodline.

Despite extensive search operations that have left no stone unturned, air, land, and sea teams were forced to suspend their activities. "Over the weekend, our Search and Rescue Team spent countless hours searching the Bodega Head area with help from Henry-1, U.S. Coast Guard planes and boats, SAR canines, ground searchers, Marine Unit boats, and drones," the Sonoma County Sheriff's Office explained, per the San Francisco Chronicle. Yet, without new leads to pursue, the active search has been temporarily halted.

The responsibility of the investigation has now shifted back to the Santa Rosa Police Department, which has earnestly reached out to the community for any information that could help locate Borjas. "Authorities are now waiting for new leads on where to continue looking for Borjas," stated Patricia Seffens, a spokesperson for the Santa Rosa Police Department, according to SFGATE. In a personal call to action, Borjas' step-niece, Gabriella Carro, shared on Facebook, per the San Francisco Chronicle, "Her phone was last pinged around 6:30 p.m. on the trail and hasn’t pinged since then. We have no answers or explanations as to what could have happened or where she is."

Borjas is 5 feet, 5 inches tall, weighs 155 pounds, has blonde hair and blue eyes, and was last seen wearing a gray shirt, gray leggings, and black sneakers. The Santa Rosa Police Department encourages anyone with potential information to contact them at 707-528-5222.
