A 25-year-old man was arrested Saturday in Seattle after he reportedly rammed his SUV into a family's van that had two children inside, causing the vehicle to catch fire, Seattle police stated. The harrowing event occurred near Meridian Avenue North and North 40th Street around 5:30 p.m., during which time the two vehicles found themselves at an impasse on the road, as detailed in reports by The Seattle Times and KING 5.
The situation escalated as the van, which contained the four family members, attempted to negotiate the narrow space while the suspect displayed escalating anger motions toward the family, then intentionally collided with the family's vehicle, thrusting the van backward and resulting in its ignition, The Seattle Times and KING 5 reported. The mother confronted the suspect, urging him to remain at the scene as the engulfed van's occupants, including two girls aged 7 and 10, were securely fastened into their booster seats, but fortunately escaped unscathed.
