Seattle authorities have arrested a 25-year-old man on charges of assault with a deadly weapon after he allegedly drove his vehicle into a family’s van, causing it to catch fire. The incident occurred last night near Meridian Avenue North and North 40th Street, according to the Seattle Police Department Blotter. A couple and their two children, ages 7 and 10, escaped unharmed, though the front of their van was heavily damaged.

Police say the incident began on a narrow roadway where both vehicles could not pass. The suspect allegedly rammed the van with his SUV, causing it to be pushed backward and ignite. The Seattle Fire Department arrived to extinguish the flames.

The suspect was booked into King County Jail. Detectives from the Homicide and Assault Unit are handling the investigation. The man faces four counts of felony assault. Both vehicles were towed from the scene.
