Tragedy struck ‘Ewa Beach as a house fire claimed the life of a 93-year-old woman and has now resulted in a second fatality. The Honolulu Police Department, partnering with the Honolulu Fire Department, responded to the emergency on Fort Weaver Road last Wednesday, shortly after 6:30 p.m., according to a social media post from the department. Four women, with ages ranging from 28 to 56, managed to escape from the fire; two were treated for burns and dispatched to the hospital.
In a grim development following the incident, the remains of a 93-year-old female were found after the fire was put out. The Honolulu Police Department has stated that they have begun an unattended death investigation concerning this discovery. As investigations continue to meticulously unfold, officials are working to conclusively identify the decedent, with information to be released by the Office of the Medical Examiner.
Further aggravating the situation, a second female victim, aged 32, succumbed to her injuries sustained in the blaze and was pronounced dead last night. "A second unattended death case has been initiated as the investigation continues," informed a follow-up post by the Honolulu Police on social media.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation by the HFD. Anyone with information has been urgently called upon to either dial 911 or contact CrimeStoppers to potentially aid the ongoing investigation.
