A Seminole County jury delivered a guilty verdict to Donovan Faison on charges of first-degree murder in the case of his pregnant girlfriend's 2022 death. The conviction comes after prosecutors contended that Faison murdered 18-year-old Kaylin Fiengo because she refused to terminate her pregnancy. Sentencing proceedings for Faison are set to quickly follow, with the possibility of facing the death penalty, as detailed by FOX 35 Orlando.
In deliberations that lasted approximately two hours, jurors concluded that Faison’s actions were premeditated, leading to their decision to convict. Police had found Fiengo with a gunshot wound in the driver's seat of a car parked at Coastline Park in Sanford, as stated in the initial investigation results last year. It was during the subsequent investigation that officials discovered Fiengo had been embroiled in repeated disputes with Faison over her decision not to have an abortion.
After the verdict, members of Kaylin Fiengo's family publicly shared their responses. "We've been waiting a long time for this," her aunt, Tatiana Fiengo, expressed in response to the outcome of the jury's decision, as reported by FOX 35 Orlando. Subsequent comments reflected a mixture of relief and persistent grief, with Tatiana Fiengo recounting to ClickOrlando, "She was so brave. She was so funny, so forgiving. She was such a forgiving, funny girl," and acknowledging the void left by Kaylin's absence: "It’s not the same in our family. There’s always something missing."
