Book lovers and bargain hunters in Santa Monica now have an added reason to flash their library cards beyond the stacks. The Santa Monica Public Library Community Discount Program, which made its debut last month, offers library cardholders a host of discounts at local businesses, fostering a stronger connection between the community and its local merchants. An array of 20 businesses is currently participating in the initiative, presenting deals on everything from dining and wine to fitness classes and entertainment.

Those 53,000 cardholders of the Santa Monica Public Library can enjoy perks such as 10% off all drinks at Amai Coffee and a 15% discount on the total bill at Casa Martin Mexican Restaurant, happy hour, and lunch specials aside. In an effort launched as part of September's Library Card Sign-up Month, the program is not just about books – it's a passport to savings across the city, extending through August 31, 2026. Showcased as part of the partnership, FIT4MOM Santa Monica is offering 5 classes for $75 or 20% off an Unlimited Membership for newcomers, while enthusiasts of the laugh can avail 15% off tickets at Crow Comedy for shows that tickle their fancy.

"We're thrilled this program continues to grow and strengthen the relationship between our library, our patrons and the vibrant local business community," said Erica Cuyugan, the Santa Monica Public Library Director. The effort is meant to synergize the use of library resources with support for local commerce, encouraging residents to both invest in their minds and their city's economy. Additional deals include half-off admission to the Santa Monica History Museum and a complimentary pair of chocolate chip cookies at Junior Cookies upon signing up for their loyalty program.

Santa Monica Public Library cards are available online or can be applied for in person by visiting the Main Library or the Pico or Montana Branch during open hours. A full list of businesses participating and the details of their respective offers can be found at this link. Merchants interested in adding their name to this growing roster have until November 30, 2025, to fill out an interest form, potentially joining the ranks of those who both support and benefit from the literate crowds of Santa Monica.

For more information or inquiries about participation, businesses and patrons alike are encouraged to get in touch with the Public Information Officer, Tati Simonian, through [email protected].
