The Texas Department of Public Safety has activated a Silver Alert for an elderly man from Mexia, urgently requesting assistance from the public in locating him. According to CBS Austin, Noah New, 85, is afflicted with a cognitive impairment and was last seen near the 200 block of North Ross Avenue in Mexia around 3 p.m. on Wednesday. Local authorities have raised concerns, believing that his disappearance poses a significant threat to his health and safety.
New's physical description, as reported by law enforcement, outlines him as a white male standing 5'8 in height, with gray hair, hazel eyes, and a weight of 183 lbs. Last spotted, he sported a light-colored baseball cap, blue jeans, and a pair of Sketchers. While the police are scouring the area, they think that New may be found driving a white 2024 Ford Edge, Texas plates marked TSF-9918.
Authorities are urging anyone with information or those who might have seen New to come forward. Fox44 News notes that individuals who know of New's whereabouts or have spotted the described vehicle should reach out to the Mexia Police Department by calling (254) 729-4555. The prompt response of the community is crucial in these cases, as time is often a critical factor in ensuring the safety of individuals with cognitive impairments.
The announcement of the Silver Alert aims to use the public's widespread reach to aid in the swift return of Mr. New to his family. Being last seen wearing a light color ball cap, it's hoped that this distinctive piece of clothing might catch an observer's attention. Fox44 News shared that the registration plate of the potentially involved vehicle is TSF9918, and the model is a recent-year Ford Edge, which should be quite recognizable against the backdrop of Mexia's streets.
