A Silver Spring man is facing serious charges after an incident last Friday morning. According to the Montgomery County Police Department, 25-year-old Jerrell Lee Fullwood was arrested on counts of attempted first-degree rape and first-degree assault in Rockville.
The alleged assault took place near the 9800 block of Medical Center Drive around the early hour of 5:26 a.m. Montgomery County's 6th district officers were quick to the scene after a report of a sexual assault came in. They located Fullwood departing the area on a local bus, promptly making the arrest with evidence obtained, including surveillance video showing Fullwood following the victim prior to the attack.
Following the arrest, Fullwood was taken to the Montgomery County Central Processing Unit. Here, he was formally charged with the heinous acts, namely, attempted first-degree rape and two counts of first-degree assault. The court logistics are underway as he awaits a bond hearing.
The victim, an adult female, was attempting to reach a bus stop when the attack occurred. Further details on the victim's condition have not been released, respecting their privacy during this time. The Montgomery County Department of Police, notably their Special Victims Investigations Division has been actively working on this case, piecing together the chilling narrative of that early morning assault.
