A head-on collision on Marysville Road near Collins Lake in Yuba County has resulted in injuries to six individuals, among them three children. The incident occurred yesterday around 5:15 p.m. and involved two vehicles, highway patrol officers confirmed.
The California Highway Patrol (CHP) responded to the scene near Leanne Way after a 56-year-old woman driving a silver Toyota Corolla going northbound drifted into the southbound lane, colliding with a silver Toyota Corolla driven by a 53-year-old man, as per CBS Sacramento. Both drivers sustained serious injuries and were airlifted to different hospitals – the woman to Enloe Medical Center in Chico, and the man, to Sutter Roseville Medical Center with a broken arm, and other, unspecified injuries.
Additional victims in the crash were passengers in the southbound car, which included a 36-year-old woman and three minors, who were transported to Adventist Health and Rideout in Marysville for treatment of minor injuries. Details regarding the circumstances that caused the woman to veer into oncoming traffic remain undisclosed at this time.
Marysville Road faced closure for roughly two hours while the CHP conducted their investigation and the area was cleared. The collision, which took place in rural Yuba County, just to the northwest side of Collins Lake, remains under investigation. According to a report by KCRA, the incident has drawn attention to the safety of the roadway in this region.
