The Metropolitan Police Department is investigating a fatal shooting that occurred in Southeast Washington, D.C., on Sunday. According to the Metropolitan Police Department release, officers from the Seventh District responded to reports of gunfire around 10:18 p.m. in the 3800 block of 9th Street, Southeast.
Upon arrival, officers found an adult male suffering from gunshot wounds. Despite the efforts of DC Fire and EMS, the victim was pronounced dead at the scene. Officials identified the deceased as 30-year-old Simon Getachew of Northwest D.C.
The Metropolitan Police Department is offering a reward of up to $25,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of those responsible. Anyone with information is urged to contact police at (202) 727-9099 or send tips anonymously by texting 50411. The investigation remains ongoing.
