The Durango Casino & Resort, a staple of southwest Las Vegas entertainment, is upping the ante with plans for an expansive new addition that promises to roll a strike for family fun. According to News 3 LV, Station Casinos has filed an application for a substantial 152,000-square-foot expansion. The planned growth includes a slew of amenities such as a movie theater, bowling alley, full-service restaurant, and, billiards area.
The future expansion is not the only development on the horizon for the resort. Currently, Durango Casino is amidst enhancing its gaming floor and constructing a new parking facility to accommodate guests. "These additions are designed to complement the existing resort offerings and provide guests with a broader range of entertainment and dining options," states the application submitted to Clark County. This move aims to bring Durango in sync with other Station Casinos properties like Red Rock Casino and Green Valley Ranch, which also feature similar leisure options, as detailed by News 3 LV.
The proposal laying out the blueprint for this leisure haven will be subject to review by the Clark County Zoning Commission on October 22. As outlined in county documents, reported by 8 News Now, the masterplan envisages an entertainment landscape spreading across the ground-level and a mezzanine, including additional spaces for entertainment, dining, and casino-integrated activities.
Station Casinos seems confident about the project's integration with the existing infrastructure. "The proposed changes are consistent with existing entitlements and are not expected to create adverse impacts on traffic, parking, public facilities, or the surrounding neighborhood," a representative indicated in the county document, assuring that the adjustments will not only ameliorate current vehicular movement but also, bolster future development phases. Parking woes are also being addressed, with the resort already working on a new parking garage poised to have close to 6,000 spaces, according to 8 News Now.
While the expansion vision is clear, Station Casinos keeps its cards close to the chest, declining to comment on an inquiry from 8 News Now regarding the expansion. Nevertheless, the Durango Casino & Resort's plans indicate a steadfast commitment to transforming the southwest Las Vegas skyline into a more integrated, family-oriented entertainment locale.
