The city is in the grips of an investigation into a disturbing incident that claimed the lives of two women, after a house fire in Carondelet was deemed to be a calculated act of violence. The St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department's Homicide Division, in conjunction with the Bomb & Arson Unit, are deep into a probe concerning the events leading up to the tragic deaths of Sherry Larose, 81, of Lemay, MO and Elizabeth Pfaff, 66, of St. Louis City, MO, as reported by SLMPD.org.

Called to a residential address on the 3500 block of Kingsland Ct. on July 14 around 12:45 p.m., Bomb & Arson officers discovered what initially emerged to be an intentionally set blaze at the scene. Sadly ensnared by the flames, an 81-year-old woman and a 66-year-old woman, later identified as Larose and Pfaff, were found inside the residence. Both victims, transported to the hospital in the hope of aid that arrived too late, were pronounced dead, the devastating end to lives not concluded by natural means but by an act of sinister intent.

Following the determination that the fire was an intentional act, Homicide detectives have been leading the charge on this investigation to shed light on a possible suspect or suspects involved. They are peeling back the layers of this case, seeking to understand the ties that bound the arson to the homicides. The Medical Examiner's Office's ruling reinforced the gravity of the situation, declaring the deaths of both victims as homicides.

The SLMPD has made clear their resolve to navigate to the heart of this tragedy, urging the community to contribute any information they might have. They've placed their bets on the people, believing that someone out there holds the missing puzzle piece that could lead to an arrest, evidenced in their appeal for witnesses. "Anyone with information about the incident is urged to call the Homicide Division directly at 314-444-5371," while "Anyone with a tip who wants to remain anonymous and is interested in a possible cash reward can contact CrimeStoppers at 866-371-TIPS (8477)," policing officials stated.

As the investigation remains ongoing, the authorities are keen to encourage public support. Only tips that navigate the channels of CrimeStoppers and subsequently result in a felony arrest will stand eligible for the organization's reward.
