
The streets of Downtown Statesville were filled with residents and law enforcement on Wednesday for the "Walk a Mile in Their Shoes" event, held in observance of Domestic Violence Awareness Month. Participants, many dressed in purple to represent awareness, joined the Statesville Police Department in showing support for victims and promoting efforts to end domestic abuse, according to the Statesville Police Department's Facebook post.
Mayor Costi Kutteh and District Attorney Sarah Kirkman addressed the crowd, emphasizing the importance of community involvement in combating domestic violence. The event served as a reminder that collective action can help stop abuse.
The Statesville Police Department thanked participants for their support and solidarity during Domestic Violence Awareness Month, noting that the community’s commitment to ending abuse extends throughout the year.
