
A deadly incident unfolded in Philadelphia's East Oak Lane neighborhood when a stolen Dodge Durango caused a multi-vehicle crash at the intersection of North 2nd Street and Cheltenham Avenue late Tuesday night, 6ABC reports. In addition to the Durango, a Hyundai Sonata and a black Chevrolet Tahoe were involved; the driver of the Sonata was pronounced dead at the scene, with another individual suffering injuries and transported to a local hospital.
Details from NBC10 indicate that according to the Philadelphia Police, the tragic crash occurred at approximately 10:42 p.m. and following the event, two people were arrested: both the driver and the passenger of the Durango, the vehicle has been confirmed as stolen prior to the collision, leading to swift custody after the crash.
As the aftermath of the collision was being processed, a local resident, identified only as Susan by 6ABC, recounted the harrowing sounds of the crash, stating, "It was a powerful accident, you could tell. With the windows closed, you could tell," highlighting the severity of the impact that reverberated through the community and left a visceral reminder in the form of scattered wreckage.
CBS News Philadelphia confirms in their reporting at CBS that the Philadelphia Police are yet working to identify the deceased victim of the accident, no other injuries were reported outside of the two victims, whilst the driver and passenger of the stolen Dodge Durango, that was reportedly being tracked by the owner, were arrested at the scene, which is now at the center of an investigation led by the Crash Investigation Division of the Philadelphia Police Department.
