
In a recent operation that underscores ongoing safety concerns around local schools, the Federal Bureau of Investigation Sacramento Field Office, teamed up with Folsom Police Department, apprehended Curt Taras on serious federal charges. Taras, whose alleged misconduct includes bringing a firearm into a school zone, is now awaiting his first appearance in federal court. The specifics of these charges, as publicized by Folsom Police on their official social media, earmarked his court appearance for 2 P.M. today, though at this juncture, the charges remain allegations, and Taras retains the presumption of innocence.
The earlier incident that led to Taras's initial apprehension took place on September 24. The Folsom Police detail he was found on Folsom High School campus, refusing to vacate the premises, issuing threats, and armed with a firearm, a high-capacity magazine, and a knife. After his release on bail, Taras found himself in police custody yet again on Monday. This time, his presence at Sandra J. Gallardo Elementary School, did not involve weaponry, but violated a restraining order that was not connected to the prior school incident.
In light of these events, local law enforcement is emphasizing their partnership with the Folsom Cordova Unified School District, maintaining a vigilant stance on safety. "Law enforcement at all levels continues to work closely with Folsom Cordova Unified School District to ensure the safety of students, staff, and the community," the department has stated.
