
An arrest has been made in connection with a recent shooting in the Navy Yard area, the Metropolitan Police Department reports. The incident took place on Thursday last week, when officers from the First District responded to a distress call regarding gunfire at the intersection of Half Street and L Street, Southeast. The police found an adult male with a gunshot wound who was still conscious and breathing at the time.
The victim of the shooting, identified as 28-year-old Dejour Adams from Southwest, DC, has been arrested and charged with Assault with A Dangerous Weapon (Gun), according to the MPD's press release. The investigation into the event has indicated that the altercation was a shootout with a second, currently unidentified, suspect. The search for this individual is ongoing as they remain at large.
Authorities are urging anyone with information about the shooting to contact the police, assuring that nothing significant should be handled independently. The Metropolitan Police Department offers a substantial incentive for information leading to successful prosecution. "The Metropolitan Police Department currently offers a reward of up to $10,000 to anyone who provides information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for a violent crime committed in the District of Columbia," the MPD statement notes.
