The Tulsa Police Department announced the arrest of a suspect connected to a deadly park shooting that marked the city’s 40th homicide of the year. According to a Tulsa Police Department's Facebook post, officers responded to the incident at 3825 W. 53rd Pl. S. on Friday last week, where they found one person fatally shot.
Through surveillance footage and witness statements, investigators identified the suspect as Dwight Lee Busby II. Video evidence showed Busby arriving at the park wearing a bright blue sweatshirt, dark blue pants, black tennis shoes, a black do-rag, and a white mask. After multiple shots were fired, he was seen fleeing toward a white Chevrolet Tahoe, which was later traced to Bristow, Oklahoma, using license plate recognition technology.
Search warrants were executed at Busby’s residence and vehicle on last Saturday, leading to the discovery of clothing that matched the footage and a firearm consistent with evidence found at the scene. Busby was read his Miranda rights and confessed to the shooting, citing a prior personal dispute.
Busby was booked for first-degree murder. The Tulsa Police Department emphasized that this remains an arrest, not a conviction, as the case proceeds through the judicial process.
