The Metropolitan Police Department has recently brought to a close the investigation of a shooting incident that took place in Northeast DC this past June, resulting in the arrest of a suspect identified as 22-year-old Kyre Robinson of Southeast, DC. According to a press release from the MPD, the events unfolded on June 9, 2025, when Fifth District officers were called to the 1500 block of Benning Road, Northeast around 11:25 a.m.
The officers discovered one adult male victim at the scene, and shortly thereafter, another adult male victim in the 700 block of 15th Street, Northeast. Both victims, suffering from gunshot wounds, were conscious, breathing and subsequently transported to local hospitals for treatment of injuries reported to be non-life-threatening.
After months of investigation, the MPD on Tuesday, October 14, 2025, executed a DC Superior Court arrest warrant leading to Robinson's apprehension. Robinson has been charged with Assault With A Dangerous Weapon (Gun). This development marks a turning point in the case which has garnered significant attention since the incident took place.
