A tragic car crash in Berclair has resulted in severe injuries for two teenagers and the arrest of a man on DUI charges. The incident, which occurred yesterday, involved a suspected drunk driver crashing into a Nissan Altima with four teenagers inside.

According to Action News 5, the collision happened just after 12:30 AM at the intersection of Macon Road and Wells Station Road. Upon their arrival, officers discovered a 16-year-old driver and a 17-year-old passenger, both critically injured, near the Altima. The driver of a Chevrolet Silverado, who later admitted to being drunk, was also found standing by his vehicle. A surveillance video captured by WREG, shows the Silverado speeding through a red light and smashing head-on into the Altima without headlights.

The driver of the Altima was transported to Regional One Medical and the passenger to LeBonheur Children's Hospital, both in critical condition. "It's my fault because I'm so drunk," and "I'll take my charge, I have the money," the Silverado's driver stated at the scene, as reported by FOX13 Memphis. He was transported to the hospital in non-critical condition while under custody for suspected DUI.

Additionally, two other teenagers from the Altima, who had left the scene and were taken to a nearby gas station, returned later with minor injuries. One was taken to LeBonheur Children's Hospital in non-critical condition, and the other refused medical attention.

The aftermath of the crash further saw a third vehicle, a Honda Pilot, damaged as a result of the spinning Silverado. With community members reeling from the reckless endangerment of lives, this incident underscores the devastating consequences of driving under the influence. The investigation into this crash by the Memphis Police Department is ongoing.
