
A deputy’s patrol car was hit by a pickup truck on Wednesday around 5:15 pm in the 3100 block of River Rd E. The pickup swerved into oncoming traffic and struck the deputy’s car, which was responding to a call, according to the Pierce County Sheriff’s Department.
A deputy was turning onto 31st Ave Ct East from River Road when a pickup truck, traveling the opposite way, moved into the center lane to avoid another vehicle. No one was injured, but both vehicles were damaged. The patrol car’s airbags deployed, and it had to be towed, as reported by the Pierce County Sheriff’s Department.
The Pierce County Sheriff’s Department responded to a collision where a pickup truck hit a deputy’s patrol vehicle. The Washington State Patrol arrested the driver on a DUI charge, citing "substantial evidence" of impairment.
