Marlon Odir Gomez Hernandez, a 29-year-old from El Salvador and suspected MS-13 gang member, became stuck on a Houston-area business sign while trying to evade ICE officers during a targeted enforcement operation on Monday. He had previously entered the U.S. illegally after being arrested in El Salvador on January 26, 2022, for aggravated extortion alongside six other suspected gang members, according to the U.S. Immigration And Customs Enforcement.
The chase led Gomez Hernandez through a washateria and across ceiling panels to the roof before ending on the outdoor sign, where U.S. Immigration And Customs Enforcement officers safely apprehended him. No injuries were reported for Gomez Hernandez or the officers during the incident.
Gomez Hernandez was arrested and transported to the Montgomery Processing Center in Conroe, where he remains pending the outcome of his immigration proceedings. Immigration and Customs Enforcement officials said the operation targeted individuals involved in illegal immigration and gang-related activities, as reported by the U.S. Immigration And Customs Enforcement.
