Residents in Northwest D.C. can perhaps sleep a bit sounder now following the arrest of a suspect, Timothy Wiggins, in connection with a series of home burglaries. The Metropolitan Police Department reports that the 62-year-old Northwest D.C. resident was apprehended on charges of two burglaries.

Details on the incidents provided by the MPD outline the method of operation. The first occurred on June 21, around 4:00 PM. Unlawfully gaining access to a home in the 3600 block of Chesapeake Street, the suspect allegedly absconded with property, the owners still inside, and vanished without immediate notice. The second incident, strikingly similar, happened just over a month later on July 23, when, at around 7:16 PM, an occupied residence in the 3000 block of Van Ness Street succumbed to a similar fate, becoming the stage for another theft of personal belongings.

On the heels of a DC Superior Court arrest warrant, Wiggins' liberty was curtailed on Tuesday. The MPD, noting the gravity of the situation, brought two counts of Burglary One against him. As stated on the MPD's official release, both bouts of unlawful entry have been linked to criminal case numbers 25093183 and 25111575, respectively.
