A string of crimes in the city has led to the arrest of a 17-year-old after a series of ill-fated events unfolded over the course of an evening. According to the SVPD, a witness on Fallon Circle reported a suspect vandalizing a parked vehicle around 10:25 P.M. yesterday. Despite a detailed description and prompt response, police initially failed to find the alleged vandal after combing the area.
Nevertheless, officers were soon quickly to be dispatched following a traffic collision involving a stolen Kia Soul in the 1900 block of Morley St. The driver, having fled the accident, was later apprehended on the corner of Abraham and Malcolm Streets—a juvenile fitting the appearance of the earlier suspect. As reported by the SVPD via Nixle, the teen also possessed items stolen from another vehicle theft on Valjean Ave.
The juvenile, not publicly identified due to his age, was cited for vandalism, petty theft, and vehicle theft. The SVPD's swift action brought an end to these criminal incidents as they took custody of the suspect and furthered their investigation.
Despite the accused being underage, the crimes he's alleged to have committed bear real weight. Charged with WIC 602 and 10851 VC for vehicle theft, PC 484 for petty theft, and PC 594 for vandalism, he was ultimately released to his mother.
