The shooting took place just after 8:45 p.m. on Highway 74 in Indian Trail. Deputies arrived on the scene to find evidence of the violent act and later confirmed that the worker had succumbed to their injuries. As reported by WBTV, officials are currently in pursuit of the suspect, who is believed to have fled in a vehicle post-shooting.
The Union County Sheriff's Office responded to reports of the shooting shortly before 9 p.m. and discovered the victim, an employee of the establishment, dead from gunshot wounds. While the search for the suspect continues, investigators are conducting interviews and gathering evidence to establish the circumstances leading up to the tragedy. "The restaurant and surrounding area have been secured, and Taco Bell will remain closed while the investigation continues," noted WCNC, indicating that this event has placed a temporary halt on the location's operations.
