In a significant crackdown on drug trafficking, the Tacoma Police Department's Special Investigations (SI) Unit nabbed a major haul of narcotics, seizing a record 89 pounds of crystal methamphetamine, according to a recent report on the department's official website. This feat was achieved after thorough surveillance and a well-executed interdiction in Lewis County, which led to the apprehension of an adult male, arrested without incident.
The SI Unit's operation surpassed last year's record of 83 pounds, indicating an escalating battle against the flow of illegal substances into Washington; during their searches, they also uncovered additional drugs across multiple storage units including 410 grams of cocaine, 166 grams of fentanyl powder, and 33.5 grams of heroin, not to mention they found one firearm which adds a layer of danger to the entire operation. The suspect, now in custody, faces charges related to the unlawful possession of these substances with the intent to distribute them.
