
A teenager was fatally shot last night in Jacksonville’s Southside. The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office confirmed the incident occurred at around 6:30 p.m. on the 2100 block of Caljon Road, as per reports by News4JAX. Upon arrival at the scene, officers discovered a male juvenile in his mid-teens with a gunshot wound.
The unidentified boy was quickly transported to a local hospital, dying from his injuries shortly thereafter. According to First Coast News, the teenager was found outside a home, and police have not yet determined the circumstances of the shooting or the relationships between those involved.
JSO has not disclosed a motive or the connection between the parties as investigations are underway. They are holding the two detainees for questioning to understand better the events that transpired during the incident. One of the key details noted by authorities is that one of the two people detained was the one who called 911 about the incident, as Action News Jax reported.
