
A 13-year-old boy was injured in a drive-by shooting Sunday night in the Englewood neighborhood of Chicago’s South Side, according to local authorities. The incident occurred near a gas station on the 800 block of West 59th Street around 9:20 p.m., as reported by WGN-TV. The victim was said to be walking when a grey SUV with four occupants pulled up alongside him and opened fire before fleeing the scene.
Chicago police are currently seeking to locate the vehicle involved in the shooting. Per details confirmed by the Chicago Sun-Times, the boy was struck in the left leg and was grazed by another bullet on his right leg. Despite the harrowing ordeal, the teen was able to be quickly taken to St. Bernard Hospital and, according to the police, was in good condition. No suspects had been placed into custody at the time of reporting.
Area One Detectives are actively investigating the drive-by shooting, as the search for the gray SUV continues. The police are urging anyone with information to come forward to assist in apprehending those responsible for the incident.
