
A 17-year-old boy has been fatally shot in Northeast D.C., and the Metropolitan Police Department is on the case. On the evening of Friday, just after 7 p.m., Fifth District officers were called to the 600 block of Rhode Island Avenue, Northeast, due to reports of gunfire. Arriving on the scene, they found the young male, identified as Jermaine Durbin, unresponsive with a critical gunshot injury.
Despite the arrival of DC Fire and EMS, Durbin's fate was sealed at the scene. Showing no signs consistent with life, the juvenile was pronounced dead shortly thereafter. The investigation has prompted the MPD to call upon the public for assistance. A reward of up to $25,000 is being offered for any information leading to an arrest and conviction in this case, as confirmed by a release on the Metropolitan Police Department's website.
