Yesterday morning, 18-year-old Jonathan Adams was shot in the head and died inside a residence on 108th Avenue in Queens, according to NYPD officials. Adams was visiting a friend at the time of the incident. Police responded to a 911 call at approximately 10:45 a.m. and found the victim in a Jamaica home near 173rd Street.

Upon arrival at the scene, first responders transported Adams to Jamaica Hospital where he was pronounced dead, his untimely death marked him as the 23rd teenager to fall victim to gun violence in New York City for the year, surpassing the total number of teens fatally shot in the city in 2024, according to Gothamist.

The motive behind the shooting remains unclear, and authorities have not released a description of the suspect. State police continue to investigate the incident, which occurred inside a multi-family dwelling located two blocks from elementary school P.S. 116, as per PIX11.

In the past month, two other Queens teenagers, Sanjay Samuel and Jean Rios, were killed in separate shootings in the borough. Officials have stated there is no indication that these cases are connected. The recent NYPD data, revealing a 56% decrease in shootings within the 103rd Precinct on Sunday.
