Atlanta travelers, prepare to reroute your commute. According to an announcement from the Atlanta Department of Transportation (ATLDOT), a key stretch of Bell Street NE will see its flow of traffic temporarily disrupted. The closure, stretching from Auburn Street NE to John Wesley Dobbs Avenue NE, is due to maintenance activities happening at 250 Auburn Avenue NE.

If traveling eastbound on John Wesley Dobbs Ave NE with plans to turn right onto Bell Street NE, the turn must be bypassed by continuing to Hillard St NE, turning right, then making another right onto Auburn St NE and a left back onto Bell St NE to return to the intended route. Westbound drivers attempting a left onto Bell Street NE must also bypass the turn, proceed to Jessie Hill Jr Dr NE, turn left, continue to Auburn St NE, and then turn right to re-enter Bell St NE.

Pedestrians need not worry as sidewalks along the north side of Bell Street NE will remain open and accessible during the closure. Local traffic need not worry as access will remain available throughout the closure. Access will still be available, though limited, for residents of this part of Atlanta. Enforcement officers will also be on-site to help direct traffic and ensure a smooth flow during the temporary closure.

Those with questions or concerns can contact ATLDOT directly, as the department is ready to respond to calls and emails. Officials note that reaching out to [email protected] may help provide clarity and reassurance as commuting patterns shift. Both residents and commuters are encouraged to stay updated and plan ahead to keep travel disruptions around the city to a minimum.
