On a Wednesday morning that should have been like any other, the streets of Baltimore's Penn North neighborhood were once again the scene of a harrowing snapshot of the opioid crisis gripping parts of the city. Fox Baltimore reported that ten individuals overdosed near the intersection of Pennsylvania Avenue and West North Avenue just after 11:30 a.m. today.
The Baltimore Police disclosed that six of the individuals were taken to a local hospital, while the other four refused transport.
In a response tinged with a sense of déjà vu, the Baltimore City Fire Department was once again summoned to the scene, reminiscent of the mass overdoses that occurred in July, as reported by WBALTV. While police have released no further information about the identities or conditions of those affected, the story of how and why these ten individuals came to overdose at this particular intersection remains partially untold.
