Tennessee Gov. Bill Lee and Deputy Governor Stuart C. McWhorter are visiting Taiwan, South Korea, and Japan to meet with companies that have operations in the state. "Tennessee is a global leader for its pro-business climate, low taxes and highly skilled workforce," according to the Governor's Office.

The trip will also focus on creating new business connections in the Asia-Pacific region. "Combined, companies across Taiwan, South Korea and Japan employ more than 60,000 Tennesseans," as reported by the Governor's Office.

Gov. Lee and Deputy Gov. McWhorter will end their Asia visit at the 47th SEUS-Japan Annual Meeting in Tokyo, a gathering focused on economic and cultural ties between Japan and the southeastern U.S. Japanese companies have invested more than $20 billion in Tennessee, providing nearly 50,000 jobs across 207 businesses. South Korea and Taiwan also have significant investments in the state. The Tennessee Department of Economic and Community Development works to attract new businesses and support the growth of existing ones, as stated by the Governor's Office.
