The Texas Department of Public Safety has intensified its efforts to apprehend Houston's Dante Dewayne Odom, a sex offender who has breached the conditions of his registration. Featured as the month's prominent fugitive, the authorities have upped the bounty for tips leading to his capture to $4,000 for the duration of October, conditioned upon their reception within this timeframe.
With a history that anchors him to a past offense in 1992, Odom was convicted of breaking into a habitation with the intent that left a lasting impact on a 30-year-old female victim. Last spotted in public records upon his discharge from a Texas Department of Criminal Justice prison in March 2022, he was sentenced then to 12 years' confinement. Having tattoos on his right arm and chest, and marked by scars ranging from his head to his knees, he stands at six feet and weighs around 160 pounds.
In an ongoing effort spearheaded by the Governor’s Public Safety Office, Texas Crime Stoppers advocates for community involvement, offering monetary incentives for information that facilitates the arrest of the state's most elusive offenders. According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, the program has seen a successful year, with 51 arrests spanning from most-wanted fugitives to criminal illegal immigrants, and tips leading to these captures have amounted to rewards totaling $37,000.
