The Lone Star State shines in the gastronomic constellations yet again as Governor Greg Abbott celebrates the selection of Texas restaurants in the 2025 MICHELIN Guide. This year's guide highlights 18 one-MICHELIN-Star eateries and four coveted MICHELIN Green Star locations among a total of 140 notable spots. The establishments sprawl across Austin, Dallas, Fort Worth, Houston, and San Antonio, each recognized for their culinary prowess, whether it be through the Bib Gourmand—marking out great food at great values—or Recommended status for their distinctive offerings.
In a statement marked by pride and a nod to the state's economic muscle, Abbott praised the MICHELIN Guide's second helping of Texas hospitality. "Texas is serving up even more world-renowned restaurants and rich flavors that can only be found in our great state," Governor Abbott proclaimed. His words underscored not just the culinary achievements, but the booming foodservice industry’s larger role—it supports over 1.3 million jobs and contributes more than $199 billion to Texas's economy.
The MICHELIN Guide's foray into Texas, which lifted the veil off its latest edition at a Houston gala, stands as a testament to the state's commendable journey in barbecue and beyond. Recognized widely, the guide positions Texas as a tempting ticket for food adventures. "The MICHELIN Guide Texas continues to make history, recognizing our state’s longstanding barbecue traditions as a cuisine worth traveling for," Tim Fennell, Travel Texas Director, stated, while applauding the array of flavors that define Texas.
Representing more than an epicurean nod, the MICHELIN stars and recognition beckon travelers from far and wide, thereby propelling Texas into the limelight on the global stage. As part of the Governor's Economic Development & Tourism Office, Travel Texas underpins the marketing of the state as a top-draw for tourists and partners with a broad network, including local chambers of commerce and private organizations to broadcast Texas’s cultural and historical richness — a richness now further emboldened by its stands of culinary excellence.
