A tragic collision on Interstate 10 in Kendall County has claimed the lives of three individuals, including one adult and two children, while leaving two others with serious injuries, local authorities report. The accident, which occurred around 3:20 p.m. Monday near mile marker 524, involved a silver GMC Sierra pickup truck and a truck tractor semi-trailer.
The Texas Department of Public Safety disclosed that the pickup truck was oddly stopped in the right lane when it was hit by the semi-trailer. In the wake of the impact, a 23-year-old adult and two children were pronounced dead at the scene, as per information provided by KSAT.
Emergency responders airlifted a second adult and a female child to a San Antonio medical center, their conditions not known at the time. The Kendall County Sheriff's Office has stated that the interstate was subsequently reopened after the crash was cleared.
As crews responded to the scene, Texas DPS Troopers initiated a temporary shutdown of all westbound lanes to allow to efficiently address the accident. News 4 San Antonio reported that traffic had to be diverted through Exit 524, leading to significant delays, with the Sheriff's Department urging drivers to "drive carefully and avoid the area to allow first responders to work safely."
