Wildlife agents in Terrebonne Parish issued citations to three men for several Wildlife Management Area (WMA) violations on Saturday last week. The individuals, identified as Jose Ernesto Canales, Victor Funes-Carcamo, and Roy Junior Rowley, were cited after being found with 188 pounds of brown shrimp at Pointe-aux-Chenes WMA—far exceeding the 25-pound limit per vehicle or vessel allowed in the area, according to the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries release.

Canales also received additional citations for not having a WMA access permit, failing to complete a self-clearing permit, and possessing finfish caught with a cast net, which is prohibited within the WMA.

Agents seized the catch, consisting of shrimp, 31 croaker, and 11 white trout, which were later donated to a local charity. Regulations specify that finfish in the area may only be caught using a rod and reel or hand-line.

The three men face fines of up to $350 for each offense. Canales faces further penalties, including civil restitution of $486 for the shrimp and $193 for the finfish. Senior Agents Austin Anderson and Troy Autin participated in the case.
