A Toledo man is currently in critical condition after being shot with a crossbow at the Bedford Inn Motel in Bedford Township, Monroe County. The 42-year-old victim, whose identity has not been disclosed, was discovered by first responders last Saturday around 11:30 a.m.
According to the Monroe County Sheriff's Office, the man was quickly transported to a local hospital where he remains in a life-threatening state. The sheriff's office told The Detroit News that the weapon believed to be used in the incident—a crossbow—has been located, thanks to search warrants carried out at the motel.
An investigation into the assault, which deputies are treating as an attempt to commit murder, is underway with detectives establishing that the victim and the assailant were acquainted and that both were guests at the motel, as confirmed by a 13ABC report. The Monroe County Sheriff's Office has said in a news release, "The other subjects related to the case have been identified, but have not been located."
Authorities are actively seeking any clues that might lead to the arrest of the suspect and have urged anyone with information to come forward. Members of the public can contact the Detective Bureau at (734) 240-7530 or share tips anonymously through Crime Stoppers at 1-800-SPEAKUP.
