The incident unfolded last Saturday afternoon off the coast near 94th Street, where the man was spotted in distress and subsequently pulled from the water by local authorities.
According to KHOU, the multi-agency rescue effort included Galveston Island Beach Patrol, Galveston EMS, the Galveston Fire Department, and the Galveston Police Department, which responded swiftly to the scene. Despite the immediate administration of CPR and the victim's rushed transport to UTMB hospital, he was pronounced dead following his arrival.
