President Trump and Japan’s Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi signed agreements in Tokyo securing a $550 billion investment plan to boost U.S. industry, energy infrastructure, and defense cooperation. Key commitments include $332 billion for critical energy projects, with companies like Westinghouse, GE Vernova, and Hitachi leading power plant and renewable energy developments, according to the White House.

The plan also covers $25 billion from GE Vernova for large-scale power equipment and $25 billion from Toshiba for electrical modules to stabilize the U.S. grid and support critical facilities. Toyota will export U.S.-made vehicles to Japan and allow U.S. companies to use its distribution platforms. The U.S. and Japan signed a memorandum for cooperation on AI, quantum information science, and space exploration. Tokyo Gas and JERA plan to buy large amounts of U.S. LNG. Japan will also increase its defense capabilities and receive Advanced Medium-Range Air-to-Air Missiles for its F-35 fighter jets, as stated by the White House.
