Tulsa drivers, brace yourselves for continued traffic disruptions as several ongoing construction projects persist across the city. According to the Oklahoma Department of Transportation, US-75 is experiencing various interruptions, such as intermittent lane closures near I-244 on the northeast corner of the Inner Dispersal Loop. These interruptions, a piece of an enduring puzzle, expect to carry on daily from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. through mid-October.
In a related vein of traffic constrictions, I-244 squeezes down to a single lane near the US-75 junction. This constraint is part of a bridge rehabilitation project slated to last through October. Further, motorists will face detours Thursday night as ramps connecting eastbound I-244 to both directions of US-75, and the on-ramp from MLK Jr. Blvd./Detroit Ave, will close from 7 p.m. until the small hours of 3 a.m. Friday for the repairs of safety devices.
Elsewhere, the interchange at I-44 and US-75 grapples with its elaborate improvement project, which is anticipated to extend through the summer of 2028. Current road closures in the area involve the I-44 ramps leading to northbound US-75, which leaves drivers to meander through detours along I-244. Closures along Skelly Dr., 51st St., and a one-lane constriction on 46th St. at US-75, further test the patience of Tulsa's commuters.
The Oklahoma Department of Transportation also notes that another construction effort is underway in Catoosa, with lane closures on I-44 and SH-66 affecting traffic until 2026. The intricate interchange project has ushered in a slew of lane narrowing and shifts, including the I-44 ramp to westbound I-44, which is bereft of access to northbound SH-66. Drivers are advised, to negotiate these inconveniences by exiting onto 165th E. Ave., backtracking east on I-44 and then snatching the northbound SH-66 exit.
Moreover, US-75 betwixt 56th St. N. and 66th St. N. has been whittled down to one lane in each direction through summer 2026 for bridge repairs. Drivers should also heed the altered traffic patterns near the 141st St. bridge construction in Glenpool, where lane shifts and ramp closures are the order of the day until October 2025. Additionally, a pavement reconstruction on SH-97 from S. Main St. to W. 2nd St. in Sand Springs is expected to last until November 2025, while SH-66 near Catoosa remains pinched to one lane in each direction at the Bird Creek bridge until early 2026.
