Tulsa drivers, prepare for slowdowns and detours. According to an announcement by the Oklahoma Department of Transportation (ODOT), congestion may impact daily commuters, as north and southbound US-75 will experience various lane closures at I-244 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m daily until mid-October. In tandem, eastbound I-244 itself is narrowed to one lane at the US-75 junction through this month to facilitate bridge rehabilitation. Motorists should expect ongoing delays in the coming months due to construction, with traffic being directed through areas marked by orange cones and flashing lights as work progresses.

Adding to current traffic disruptions, a long-term infrastructure project is underway to improve the I-44/US-75 interchange in Tulsa. Scheduled to continue through summer 2028, the project has led to the closure of multiple ramps. These include the eastbound and westbound I-44 ramps to northbound US-75, the southbound US-75 ramps to both directions of I-44, as well as local street closures on Skelly Drive, 51st Street, and 46th Street.

In the neighborhood of Catoosa, ODOT has advised of lane closures on east and westbound I-44/SH-66 and narrowed lanes on the I-44/Will Rogers Turnpike ramp to westbound I-44, part of an interchange improvement project continuing through 2026. Drivers maneuvering through the area are encountering detours and limited merge areas, especially southbound SH-66 ramp to westbound I-44, which has been closed for duration. Meanwhile, bridge construction and pavement rehabilitation have narrowed US-75 to one lane between 56th St. N. and 66th St. N. through summer 2026 and parts of SH-97 in Sand Springs through November.
